...Really, this film should aspire to be like "Friends". Without the ability to luxuriate in fluff that a feature accords, I'm confident the TV writers could have taken the same material and made it succinctly engaging, with more consistent jokes and probably more sincerity to boot. Instead, the movie infuriatingly waters down what might have made a decent sitcom, and we're left only with the remnants of sitcom artifices, without any punch...
EDITOR'S NOTE: TIME Daily writer Frank Pellegrini, at a ripe 27 years, has taken a leave of absence to join the Army Reserve. Says Arnold Sanow, a small-business strategist and author of Entrepreneur Boot Camp: "Money is important, but you can get a job anywhere today. Why stay where you're not appreciated...
...might be having trouble making deals, because he had not sold the movie rights for MICHAEL CRICHTON'S new novel, Timeline, due out next month. Ovitz put such talk to rest last week when Paramount signed on for the film. It will be directed by a big name to boot: RICHARD DONNER (Lethal Weapons 1, 2, 3 and 4). Folks at Paramount weren't talking, but the film, which is said to be a Jurassic Park-esque tale of time travel and technological marvels, is slated for release in summer...
