Come anything short of a Jap invasion, there will be a Rose Bowl game at Pasadena this year. But it may be shorn of geographical significance. The Pacific Coast Conference, Rose Bowl host, automatically picks its own conference champion (probably Washington State this year) to represent the West. But this year's present two top-ranking Eastern teams-Georgia Tech and Boston College-hail from some 3,000 miles away and may not be permitted to travel across the continent just to make a football holiday. ...Orleans, by contrast with Pasadena, is far happier about the prospect of its Sugar Bowl game on New Year's Day. Georgia Tech is reasonably near New Orleans.
