According to figures released last week, gross box-office receipts for the cinema industry in 1936 were a billion dollars, $250,000,000 more than last year. Weekly theatre attendance was 81,000,000-compared to 71,000,000 in 1935, 54,000,000 in 1933. Main reasons for the industry's gain were undoubtedly increased prosperity and better pictures. ...Year's or a Merry Reading Period... The Vagabond ambles aimlessly, until he meets with a Radcliffe friend... A story of the Radcliffe freshman who, in the act of stealing an extra week's vacation, writes the dean that she is awfully sick and encloses--incidentally--a five pound box of candy... Best tunes: Now (Vernon Duke & Ted Fetter), Little Old Lady (Hoagy Carmichael & Stanley Adams...

Designed by Goodyear, they are 10 ft. high, 3 ft. wide, have a normal pressure of 6 lb. per sq. in. Both axles are pivoted so that each wheel can rise two feet without distorting the frame. There are ten forward speeds, six reverse...

...Chicago studios stepped the master of ceremonies of the NBC Jamboree to announce "the phenomenon of the century . . . the only mouse in the world who actually sings." Into the studio marched the Industrial School's tall, gaunt Manager Oscar Alva Allred, carrying Minnie in a wire-fronted box. Holding the cage before the microphone, Manager Allred poked a small piece of insulated wire through a hole in the box top, tenderly prodded Minnie's belly. As the visible audience of 400 listened raptly, out over a national network went faint, wavering chirps and trills. It sounded as much...
