California. Either lean, leathery William Gibbs McAdoo or chubby, boyish Tallant Tubbs will be California's next Senator. Democrat McAdoo, Woodrow Wilson's Secretary of the Treasury and son-in-law, beat Justus Wardell, longtime friend of Governor Roosevelt, by a 2-to-1 vote for the nomination. Two irreconcilable supporters of Alfred Emanuel Smith were also-rans. To Nominee McAdoo, who gave him his presidential nomination at the Chicago convention, Governor Roosevelt wired: "Congratulations and confident good wishes for a clean Democratic sweep this fall." From a small glass works back home comes all his spending money. Leda fears that Blount's political career will be cramped, his radiant self-assurance dimmed. After a few days...
Into the charmed bohemian circle comes boyish Daniel Boleyn under the patronage of aged albino Horace Zagreus, reputed to be simply Wilde about young men. Zagreus undertakes to show Boleyn the ropes of Bohemia, sends him off to tea-parties and interviews with Apes Flagellant, Lesbian and the like. Boleyn takes his orders very seriously but cannot understand what it is all about. At Lord Osmund's drunken Lenten party all the world tries to act crazy, succeeds. Because of his comparatively sane behavior Boleyn, more mystified than ever, is cast off by Zagreus in favor of young Archie...
Throughout the whole homily Beatrice Lillie parades her usual timeless and unalterable self, tiring to some, but to most an unending delight. Hope Williams has not altered either. As she was in "Holiday," so she is in "Too True To Be Good," boyish and earnest for the most part, unconvincing in many moment. Hugh Sinclair is most constantly heard: "Popsy's satisfied so long as you let him talk," is well applied to him. Ernest Cossart is excellent as Colonel Tallboys; we wish, with him, to "bash." The Elderly Lady over the head, then extending to her our apologies...
