Within one month of its release, Mamie Smith's 1920 version of Perry Bradford's Crazy Blues sold 75,000 copies at one dollar apiece. Hodge '98, is in good alignment with the stage performance, and handles the swift, tripping rhythms of the music with effortless precision.
