Died. Berton Braley, 83, self-styled Manhattan "versifier" who unabashedly wrote for loot, not laurels, over the years turned out something like 11,000 items, ranging from light verse for magazines to Burma-Shave jingles, and once (1913) even covered the World Series in verse for United Press; of cancer; in St. Petersburg, Fla.
