...University Fencing team lost to the Naval Academy swordsmen at Annapolis by a score of 1-8. Although most of the bouts were closely contested, Captain R. H. Snow '20, was the only Harvard man to defeat his opponent. The best fencing of the contest developed between W. R. Brewster '22 and Smellie, the Navy captain, in a match which required two extra periods of two minutes each for a decision. The four scheduled bouts with sabres were called off, but there was an excellent exhibition contest with the dueling swords which Captain Snow lost to Shears of the Navy...
