Professor Brewster was graduated from the Sheffield Scientific School in 1877 and two years later took the degree of LL.B. at the Yale Law School. From 1883 to 1897 he practiced law in Detroit and then entered the faculty of law at the University of Michigan as lecturer on conveyancing. Since 1903 he has held the position of editor of the Michigan Law Review.
