Enigmatic center Leslie Greis did the bulk of the damage, pumping in eight points during this stretch enroute to a game-high 18 points. The bespectacled sophomore center, who alternates between flashes of brilliant, aggressive play underneath and spectatorly passivity, opened her binge with a layup off a bullet-pass from freshman guard Sue Field...
...building the supercar that every American can own, Olivier takes the word "feisty" to new heights, and if it weren't so demeaning to see him play a variation on Granny Clampett at this stage of his career, you could enjoy the performance for its impudence. Even more brilliant are his quieter, serious moments, when this hackneyed material takes on larger dimensions. Perhaps the best scene in The Betsy occurs after Olivier has presented his son (Paul Rudd in an earnest performance) with wedding presents--some stocks in the company worth $27 million and a new car to be named...
Outrageous! Only Woody Allen at his best could outdo some of the one-liners in Richard Benner's brilliant comedy about a female impersonator's rise to stardom and the whacked-out woman behind his success. Craig Russell's unabashedly gay hairdresser has graced us with a character we will not soon forget, completely stealing the show in the movie's plot and the movie itself. His series of famed singers and actresses belting out "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" will bring down any house, so carefully honed are his Channings and Ellas. Co-star Hollis McLaren...
...story has it, highly placed bad guys in "Boston Memorial Hospital" are selling human organs illegally, and they are willing to do anything to ensure a fresh supply. The flower-like Bujold, who does not look tired enough to have finished medical school, plays Dr. Susan Wheeler, a brilliant surgical resident who stumbles prettily from creepy suspicion to grisly certainty. But no one in the hospital, including the kindly chief of staff (Richard Widmark), will take her seriously. Her lover, a crass young intern (Michael Douglas) who looks as if he will make a great golfer some day, keeps saying...
...cute, but the result is surprisingly moving. In all, about half the tracks were recorded on stage. The other half consists of performances in hotel rooms, backstage rehearsal rooms, even aboard the band's tour bus. The idea of capturing live performances other than the ones on stage is brilliant, and goes a long way toward giving the listener a more complete picture of life on the road than the traditional "live" album...
