...petition brought some time ago by the President and Fellows of Harvard against the Boston Park Commissioners has been denied by Judge Barker of the Supreme Court. The petition was for a writ of certiorari to quash the proceedings of the Park Board in taking a tract of land belonging to the Bussey Institution farm for a public playground. The case is an interesting one and unusual in several particulars. ...Court of Massachusetts in 1899. On January 4, 1900, the court gave its decision against the city. All the money paid out by the University, amounting to $3190.40, was at once refunded by the city, and a committee was appointed to consider further action on the matter. This committee brought a bill before the State Legislature so framed as to provide for payment of taxes on college property by the state.
