...candidates on major Pentagon contracts. Both have promised to study the military budget with an eye toward scrapping, or scaling back, big-ticket items like the Army's $160 billion Future Combat Systems. Beyond that, McCain has angered some big defense companies - most notably Boeing - with his wire-brush scrubs in the Senate of proposed Pentagon expenditures that have led, among other savings, to the scrapping of a Boeing-Air Force tanker deal. In fact, the resulting investigation ended with a Boeing executive and one from the Air Force going to prison for trading Pentagon favors...

He celebrated his inauguration in 2002 with "club crawls" of Detroit's most exclusive bars, later claiming the events were intended to motivate the city's disaffected youth. In the book Lily daydreams of meeting her mother Deborah in heaven; and after 10,000 years telling Lily she was not to blame for her death, Deborah would spend the next 10,000 fixing the girl's ratty hair. ("She would brush it into such a tower of beauty, people all over heaven would drop their harps just to admire it.") The movie doesn't make a big declamatory deal of this, but after a few days with the Boatwrights, Lily looks magically presentable, pretty - because for once she's been cared...
