As always Buechler concerns himself with a domestic problem which includes a shrewish mother; he narrates his story with a loose and distinctly Buechlerian style, which stumbles only occasionally. He provides a few charming touches with his description of a boy's dreams of glory on his way to school. But in doing so, he destroys the unity of his initial plot, which doesn't seem to be resolved by the boy's arrival...
