David Mamet has created some compelling fictions in his time--about small-time crooks (American Buffalo), real-estate hustlers (Glengarry Glen Ross), conniving Hollywood producers (Speed-the-Plow). In The Old Neighborhood, which just opened on Broadway, he has turned inward.
