...thrive on paranoia alone. They require scraps ?- gaps in the narrative, a hitch or two in the official version of things, plenty of questions unanswered, and, of course, a tragic ending, hopefully brought about by a showy use of government force. Waco has all of these, and a built-in audience: the antigovernment militia types who consider their inalienable rights to be under constant siege from the same government that's supposedly sworn to protect them. Whether you call this contingent patriots or terrorists, conflagrations like Waco are their spiritual grist. And the feds are just making it worse...
...been fooling around with the 5mx and find it a generally agreeable machine. It's twice as powerful as its predecessor, runs for 35 hours on two AA batteries and has a built-in voice recorder that amused my children and thrilled my friends. The beauty of being me is that I got to go wild...
...fancy Internet keyboard. But hold on: Who in her right mind would suffer through a barrage of onscreen ads just to get a free computer? Or submit to all sorts of prying personal questions, down to your income? Next thing you know, these "free" computers might be coming with built-in video cameras to monitor your off-line activities. It would be an Orwellian nightmare, downright evil...
