After three months fighting Gallishaw was wounded on October 23, 1915, by a bullet which entered his left shoulder. He was sent to a hospital in Egypt and was later moved to London. On recovery, in January, he was declared unfit for service and was discharged in consequence of wounds received in action in Gallipoli, after serving 301 days with the colors. Lucien Donohue Tennant, a first-year student in the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, was found dead with a bullet hole in his head and a 38-calibre revolver lying beside him, on the West Boston Bridge early yesterday morning.
