...always the labyrinth of secrets that outsiders imagine. For this week's cover story on defense, Correspondents Bruce Nelan and Jerry Hannifin penetrated the maze and found, according to Hannifin, that the military is "one of the most accessible beats in Washington." "It's no bunker filled with manic Strangeloves planning the next war," says Nelan. "It's really like any other big company, except that its business is national security. People stop to chat in the halls, and the doors of the brass are open...

...shoes of John Harvard. Another young man states that at his prep school, black students were given a negative image of Harvard by that same issue." The HRBSA was prepared to concede that stereotypes could be ridiculed successfully especially when the characaturist was a buffon, such as Archie Bunker. When the stereotype came from a supposedly intelligent and literate magazine, however, it was suggested the humor was more properly perceived as a form of verbal aggression directed towards ethnic groups...

...reaped a handsome profit as prices rose. The CFTC appears to fear a similar coup in soybeans. It charged that if the Hunts held on to all their positions, "price distortion or manipulation activity ... could cause serious injury to the American public," presumably by forcing soybean prices skyhigh. Nelson Bunker Hunt views the action against him as a political maneuver. Snorts Hunt: "Dozens of families trade like this. If your name is Hunt and you're from Dallas, then it must be a conspiracy...
