"It's getting a little like Filene's Basement out there," says the Star's editor in chief, Phil Bunton. When TIME spoke to Zercher, she was a little foggy on dates and details, but not enough for the story to be easily labeled a fiction. And Zercher claims she's not in it for the money. ...scandal sheet in question -- The Star -- still insists Gecker was pushing for that amount. Editor Phil Bunton considered Willey?s story to be ?not worth more than $50,000.? And Gecker doesn?t deny talking to the tabloid altogether, nor does he deny that Willey was looking for a book deal from publisher Michael Viner. She still assists her old friends back...

Geri (Halliwell), the two Melanies (Brown and Chisholm) and Victoria (Aadams) came together in 1993 after answering a newspaper ad for singers and dancers to form a new pop group. They soon fell out with their manager, set off on their own and recruited Emma (Bunton). The five started singing (often uninvited) at parties, record-company offices, anywhere they could get noticed. They eventually hired manager Simon Fuller--the man behind Annie Lennox--who signed them with Virgin Records...
