...improve U.S. air quality, the Environmental Protection Agency moved to tighten ground-level-ozone limits imposed by the Bush Administration in 2008. The EPA estimates that the proposal, which must go through a public-comment period before final standards are issued, could save up to 12,000 lives annually by slashing smog levels from 75 parts per billion to as few as 60.
