...Harvard hitters built up a two-run lead in the second inning but blew a chance to bust the game open in the top of the eighth, when they amassed four hits and two walks with only one runner crossing the plate...
...skyscrapingest screen queen in filmsville. (Garbo, though her pressagent insisted that she was only 5 ft. 7, wore flat heels in Grand Hotel but still swayed high above John Barrymore, whose pressagent insisted that he stood 5 ft. 10.) For her height Vanessa is slender: her bust is small, her legs long and elegant; and she moves with the grace of a Watusi dancer?or a high-fashion model. ...wife. The seller was Prince Franz Josef II, head of tiny (61 sq. mi.) Liechtenstein, tucked snugly between Austria and Switzerland. Price: an estimated $5,000,000, more than twice the previous record of $2,300,000, paid in 1961 for Rembrandt's Aristotle Contemplating the Bust of Homer by Manhattan's Metropolitan Museum. Beside a giant telescope stands an old man, his ears blazing like light bulbs. On a narrow cot, a nude woman sits giggling and jiggling while an enormous...

Its twin, of Benefactor Antonio Cepparelli, was done a decade later. Drill holes in the eyes heighten their lifelike aspect, and the craggy hand of Coppola that emerges from the cloak, as if from no possible shoulder, adds to the theatrical immediacy of the long lost work. Lavin believes that the Coppola bust was done by Bernini...
