...Imperial China), or all too few (a total of three Historical Study B courses this semester). Students who will graduate before seeing Gen Ed implemented should not be constrained by this confessedly unsuccessful program. We should not be required to sacrifice quality in our own education, simply to buttress the ridiculous illusion that the Core’s primary fault is only that its “rationale” needs updating. As often with deeply flawed structures, the present period of re-evaluation and rebuilding calls for an immediate moratorium on the program itself...
...system has become so dysfunctional in recent years that Congress is trying to give it added protections. New legislation to buttress IG independence easily passed the House in October and is expected to pass the Senate in November, although the President has already threatened a veto. Vincent Regan, the Captain, delivers the worst performance...
...Grant Street ash tree (“Cambridge Council Blasts Harvard in Tree Dispute,” news, Oct. 31), you quote Mary Power, Harvard’s Senior Dir.ector of Community Relations, rebutting neighbors’ claim that Harvard may bear responsibility for damage done to the buttress roots of the tree. Her claim is that decay had been detected back in 2004 and led Harvard’s “experts” to conclude that the tree was a safety hazard. We would like to respond to these somewhat vague and dismissive remarks with some questions...
