With two down in the top of the seventh and Vierra and Bauer at the corners, Bauer sped towards second base. Unprepared for the move, Cadet catcher Terry Douglas threw down to second base. Rivera brought the insurance run home from third Base umpire Tony Bartolino ruled Bauer out of the basepath, and the Cadets protested that the third out had come before Rivera crossed the plate.
