...University baseball squad has been at work in the cage daily for the past week. All the regular men are practicing now, except H. McCall '09. last year's second baseman, who will not be able to begin work for about a month on account of his broken ankle. The pitchers have been barred curves and will continue to use straight balls for a while. They are all showing a consistent increase of speed. Candidates for the entire University baseball squad will report at the Cage this afternoon for the first practice of the season. The work for the first week, which will be carried on daily under the supervision of Coaches Pieper and Castle, will be in passing and in fielding grounders.
