...Hollywood automatically considered Broadway a wellspring of stories and concepts. But almost none of the hit Broadway musicals of the past decade have been turned into a movie. Indeed, the east- west flow of material has rather suddenly reversed itself -- movies now turn into Broadway spectacles. Director and set-designer Katya Nelhams-Wright has created a claustrophobic environment where the entire play, set inside a public women's lavatory in future London, is enclosed in a cotton mesh cage. This effect at once alienates the audience by presenting a translucent physical barrier, and draws the audience in--with both the audience and the characters inches away from the mesh, one feels voyeuristic, peering in on the lives and private conversations of the all-woman cast...

...boyfriend who I really like a lot, but there's a problem. His extracurricular activity is theater. Specifically, tech stuff. As a result, I go with him to every single play that goes up at Harvard. Every single one. "Heidi Chronicles." "Fuente Ovejuna." "Merlyn." "No Second Troy." "La Cage Aux Folles." "Deathtrap." You name it, I've seen it. I'm running out of "Opening Night" clothes. Why couldn't he be on the hockey team or be on the U.C. or even The Crimson? or even a capella, for God's sake!
