Willy Thompson surprised Princeton's Pete Kingston in the two-mile with a come-from-behind triumph, and the Crimson dominated the hurdles, with Joel Landau taking two firsts. Art Cahn led for the last 300 yards and won the 880 in 1:55.6. The mile relay quartet triumphed easily. ...dress rehearsal was scarcely finished last week when Songwriter Sammy Cahn shouted to Producer Jerry Wald that the award-giving ceremony of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was not going to fill its allotted time. Bacher ran the first 440 yards in 54.0, and it seemed he might go all the way until Schumacher caught him with about 350 yards remaining. Hanne passed Schumacher with 180 yards to go and looked like a sure winner, when Cahn came from nowhere and caught him with his last stride. Yeomans and Gordon then finished one-two in the 220, giving the Crimson 17 out of 18 points in the sprints...
