Admittedly, I am not a native-born Californian. I was born in Cleveland and never wanted to leave Ohio when I was ten. But my father managed to convince my family that California was the place to be. He bribed my siblings and myself with the promise of surfboards and a quick Hollywood drug store discovery which would lead to stardom and glitter. The promise, of course, was never upheld.
