Anderson, as I remember, is part Italian. He is a stocky, quiet, soft-voiced man, with great dark gentle eyes. I fancy he has spent most of his life being patient, then suddenly running away from life with an elaborate and perhaps unnecessary gesture. He was born at Camden, Ohio, where he was educated in the public schools. Later he worked as a laborer, fought in the Spanish-American War, wrote advertising copy, won The Dial Prize, attained a vogue in advanced literary circles, was married twice. Captain Trench signed a receipt and read an order from the Secretary of the Navy commissioning the Colorado as a battleship of the U. S. Navy. The colors were hoisted and Captain Reginald Rowan Belknap took command. A new fighter had been added to the U. S. fleet...
...English antiquarian of the 18th century. The books were published at the Sheldonian Theatre, in Oxford, and are rare copies. One of the most interesting is a diary which describes the events of 1708 to 1735. Among the volumes of special interest are: Leland's 'Itinerary," Alfred's "Annals," Camden's "Annals," and Robert of Gloucester's "Chronicle," all of which were edited by Hearne...
