...Bourne crashes through a window into the apartment where Dash just happens to be, and the two martial artists go at each other like ultimate fighters, using every fist and foot, every ounce of strength and dirty trick, every piece of furniture and plumbing at their disposal, while the camera is often perched just beneath the ceiling to keep from getting whacked as collateral damage. I'd be more specific in my description of this fight - which might have been made to prove Alfred Hitchcock's thesis that killing a man is damn hard work - but I was too excited...
...Later, he'd speak to me by phone from his oddball little island [Faro, where Bergman lived his last 40 years]. He confided about his irrational dreams: for instance, that he would show up on the set and not know where to put the camera and be completely panic-stricken. He'd have to wake up and tell himself that he is an experienced, respected director and he certainly does know where to put the camera. But that anxiety was with him long after he had created 15, 20 masterpieces...

At those wavelengths, light from the fluorescent marker cannot be blocked by blood, other body fluids or even thin bone...
When Russian tanks stormed Budapest in 1956 to quash the revolution, award-winning cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs grabbed a 35-mm camera from his film school and secretly documented the violence. Kovacs, who fled to the U.S. in 1957 (CBS aired his footage in a 1961 documentary), went on to international acclaim for sweeping photography in more than 70 movies, including Five Easy Pieces, the black-and-white Paper Moon and Shampoo. He was credited with helping change the mostly studiobound look of features with the 1969 breakthrough film Easy Rider, in which he celebrated the landscape, making...
