Director Werner Herzog - the man behind the Oscar-nominated Antarctica documentary Encounters at the End of the World - has cultivated a loyal band of admirers over the span of five decades behind the camera. Perhaps the single most striking image of his career is that of a steamboat being pushed and pulled through a dense Peruvian jungle, from his 1982 epic, Fitzcarraldo - a physical feat that was filmed on location without the aid of special effects. ...movie tips its veneration of Dillinger in an early heist scene when, as he vaults over a bank partition, the camera goes briefly into slo-mo; it's like Leni Riefenstahl filming the Olympics of bank-robbing. Nissan is now testing various systems that don't even require a Breathalyzer to detect drinking. One system uses a tiny camera to observe facial expressions, another system being tested checks blood alcohol levels though sensors when the driver grasps the shift control and a third system uses the car's internal computer to calculate if a motorist is steering erratically. Ford already has a system that allows parents to limit the speed of a vehicle driven...

...cold as the church filled with outsiders eager to see the new President. Even at St. John's, which is so accustomed to presidential visitors that it is known as the "Church of the Presidents," worshippers couldn't help themselves from snapping photos of Obama on their camera phones as they walked down the aisle past him to take communion...
