Eddie Cantor, 72, comedian, philanthropist, author of three autobiographies, whose purse-mouthed, popeyed, hand-clapping routines delighted three generations of Americans; of a heart attack; in Beverly Hills, Calif. Born Izzy Iskowitz on Manhattan's Lower East Side, Cantor sang, danced and joked his way to stardom on Broadway (Banjo Eyes) and in Hollywood (Kid Boots), pioneered live comedy on radio and TV, set the U.S. humming such ditties as Ida and Oh How She Can Yicky Yacki Wicki Wacki Woo. Then the New York legislature finally relented last April. For a $1,700 annual fee, theaters will be able to operate their own bars. The new law will not go into effect until Oct. 1. Sheepish Thunder. Boston liked Kaddish better than Tel Aviv did when Bernstein took it there for its December premiere.
