Last night Dr. Wolff gave a very interesting talk to the club on microscopic photography. He spoke especially of the working of the instrument used. Many combinations of lenses, constructed with peculiar care are necessary to do away with the spherical, chromatic, and actinic aberration of the light. The presence of any of these defects mars the accuracy of the work. Stress was also laid on the difficulty of photographing the many colored images, the points of focus of the color rays and of the actinic rays lying in different planes, and of the method of regulating the exposures.
