Coach Carole Kleinfelder started two freshmen last night. Valerie Jordan and Andrea Mainelli, saying that she wanted to get some new blood into the lineup. She added that the purpose of the game had been to "sharpen us up" for the game against Cornell on Sunday.
Last week, the Harvard women's basketball team got together to hold a somewhat informal election ceremony, and Coach Carole Kleinfelder gave her spunky guard and co-captain an award for being out of control and on the ground.
"It was better than usual," said coach Carole Kleinfelder after the game. "I think we lost the game in the first five minutes. We came out flat, and then we started to play."
"I think it has served its purpose well," Harvard basketball coach Carole Kleinfelder said of the tournament system, which started when there were very few women's teams. Any Ivy tournament presently needs only five participating teams for a legitimate title to be awarded.
"We were just blown out of this game. We have games like this," coach Carole Kleinfelder said. "I hope it's the last time we play like this."
