...society awash in symbolism. No surprise then, that one of the details that Takizawa is most proud of in his collaboration with Champion is the way he reinterpreted the sweatshirt maker's embroidered "C" monogram into a tricolor abstraction. Shoemaker Mihara, too, stamped his sneakers with a cartoon rendition of Puma's feline logo on the soles?an anim?-inspired touch that has won plaudits in Japanese fashion magazines...
...hottest accessories around is the "jelly kelly," a rubber, cartoon-colored version of Hermes' famous Kelly bag. Finding Nemo is easier than finding this bag: it sold out in two days at Steven Stolman in Southampton, N.Y. Every variety but female...
...kind of hard to explain why the cartoons at homestarrunner.com are so funny. But here goes. Homestar Runner, above, is the dorky, crudely drawn hero. His pal Strong Bad is a mysterious dude who brags a lot, wears a Mexican wrestler's mask and makes fun of Homestar. They and their friends act out spoofs, skits, adventures, music videos and fake ads, and just generally goof on their own surreal weirdness. It's like a postmodern version of the Peanuts gang. Or it's like a Saturday-morning cartoon by Salvador Dali. Or--look, it's too hard to explain...
