...invitation said casual, although the occasion was anything but: dinner at the media moguls' summit, an annual gathering at which financier Herb Allen played host at his Sun Valley digs. Nobuyuki Idei was late and tired, and since he was still wearing a suit, he looked like the carbon-copy Japanese manager that Hollywood had taken to the cleaners in recent years. So the Sony Corp. president doffed his jacket and donned a Men in Black T shirt for his big entrance. "Just a little marketing gimmick," jokes Idei. "But the guests congratulated us." Idei got hoots of approval...

...aggression on a domestic scale, as Phillip'sa frustration, hostile for all its blindness, seethes at something that can't be explained or denied. Suspicions and confusion arise as if muddled foreign policy with the involvement of an equestrian doctor (Zachary Shrier '99) whose "unconventional" methods include all too casual relations with the patent...

...helm seemed inconceivable, like Johnson's Dictionary without Dr. Samuel Johnson. For what mother and daughter remarkably accomplished was to filter a vast array of information through a personal style. Irma Rombauer's subtitle for the original 1931 Joy was A Compilation of Reliable Recipes with a Casual Culinary Chat. Her text justified this advertisement. Here was the author on serving alcohol to guests: "Most cocktails containing liquor are made today with gin and ingenuity. In brief, take an ample supply of the former and use your imagination." This advice, offered two years before the repeal of Prohibition...
