...well known that Nan Wood Graham was the woman who posed for American Gothic [May 10], but I have always been puzzled about why the identity of the man in this famous painting should be so shrouded in anonymity. He was Dr. B. H. McKeeby, and he was a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, dentist.
