...their recent success, Lehigh has had its problems with the Ivy League so far this season. Two weeks ago, it spotted Princeton a 24-7 fourth quarter lead before rallying to win 31-24, the winning score coming on junior quarterback Chad Schwenk’s touchdown pass with 12 seconds left on the clock...

...Iran, and a female official has landed on the remote island of Kish to be chauffeured by a gruff soldier and collect the locals' votes. It's a comic chore for all concerned. One old fellow wonders why his favorite candidate, God, isn't listed. There are no hanging-chad jokes, but the film's spare wit is as applicable to Broward County as to the Persian Gulf. Secret Ballot offers further evidence that an Islamic regime can foster humanist satires with a critical, political edge...

Amid all the upheaval, one thing seems certain: the airlines will probably leave passengers more confused and frustrated than they are today. "You get what you pay for. Although the Chad fossil find is indeed important, as a paleontologist I can assure you I am not scrambling to digest its implications. The traits that Toumai exhibits are what may be expected in a 7 million-year-old ape inhabiting woodlands whose origin predates the human-African ape divergence. The fossil record is far too complete for any one single ape fossil to jar the expectations of any serious paleontologist. ESTEBAN E.
