...Your Honor," Sirhan announced to the startled judge in chambers, "if these notebooks are allowed in evidence, I will change my plea to guilty as charged. I will do so, sir, not so much that I want to be railroaded into the gas chamber, sir, but to deny you the pleasure, sir, of - after convicting me - turning around and telling the world: 'Well, I put that fellow in the gas chamber, but I first gave him a fair trial,' when you, in fact, sir, will not have done...

Representative Lee Gate, champion of Crotaphytus collaris, introduced a prime boomer in a box to the assembly. The box fell. The lizard leaped. A fleet-footed fellow, he accomplished several laps around the chamber floor before being collared. Despite impressive arguments by a state senator who favored the horned toad, Crotaphytus collaris will share honors with mistletoe (Phoradendron flavescens), the state flower; the redbud (Cercis canadensis), the state tree; and the scissor-tailed flycatcher (Muscivora forficatd), the state's official bird. All of a sudden the chorus hippies are yelling...

...line with this, the composer has seen to it that his show is the first to use recording-studio electronics in a Broadway theatre. In the auditorium, one hears half sound straight from the stage and orchestra, and half sound that has been sent through an amplification-echo chamber system. There are also four female vocalists in the orchestra pit, who blend their harmonic flights of wordless sound into the instrumentation--and the whole thing is controlled from the back of the theatre with an eleven-channel stereo console...
