...thirty-fifth annual championship tournament of the National Lawn Tennis Association held at Forest Hills, New York, during the first week of September, Williams again climbed into the semi-final round by defeating W. Rand, 3d, '17, 8-6, 7-5, 6-1, in a very close match in the fifth round. Williams was not up to his usual form, Rand forcing him to two deuce sets, and carrying the play far beyond what had been expected. After winning the triangular championship with three successive victories over Princeton and two over Yale, the University baseball team lost the final game of the Yale series, 13 to 0, at Brooklyn on June 26. The University made only 3 hits off Way, and all of these came in the first two innings. The agreement with Yale and Princeton required that the game be played so that the championship could be decided on a percentage basis, even though there was nothing at stake in the contest...
