...After a short service conducted by the Rev. F. G. Peabody, the organist introduced the Cantata with a magnificent rendering of the Hallelujah chorus from Beethoven's Mount of Olives. The recitative with which the cantata began was finely given by Richardson of the St. Paul's choir. The Chant of Young Men was especially good and in perfect harmony. The soprano voices of the boys in the Chant of Maidens and Children were also remarkably fine and sweet. The whole cantata was sung clearly and sweetly without at any time an instant's hesitation.
