...acting first honors go to Mr. Gilbert in the role of the crook. It was not an easy part to handle, and he did it well. Mr. Kent and Mr. Bosworth, as the priest and the young lover, were very satisfactory. The part of the villian handicapped Mr. Charlton Miss Miller outshone the others as the emotional Betty Eustis, and entered freely into her character. The play is not the best thing that the St. James has shown, but it is far from being the worst

...failure to distinguish between high and low life: it is a case of democracy to the negation of the individual. Viola Roach, the old Copley favorite, is relegated to a minor part and further handicapped by crutches, the penalty of a sprained foot. Of the others, Frank Charlton as the kleptomaniac deserves most commendation. The production is appropriate if not striking; off-stage details are overlooked, but on-stage they are carefully emphasized. For what it is intended to be, the play succeeds to the full--a jolly evening's entertainment...

...Powers took the leading part. Her task was not especially difficult; no one in the cast had an opportunity to perform in startling fashion, although the acting was all that one could wish.
