Taylor. To succeed Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Lawrence Wood ("Chip") Roberts, resigned, President Roosevelt appointed Wayne Chatfield Taylor of Chicago. Two-thirds of the new Assistant Secretary's name come from his great-granduncle, an immensely wealthy Cincinnatian named Wayne Chatfield. When Wayne Chatfield died he left his money to his grandnephew, the Assistant Secretary's father, Hobart Chatfield Taylor, on condition that the legatee add Chatfield to his last name.
