...bother to tell your companions, especially if they're children, that Under the Sea 3-D is a documentary. (Perhaps go with "that new Jim Carrey movie," since he narrates.) Just take them along to the nearest Imax. Because once they're settled in and have put on the WALL-E glasses, the film has enough charms to completely seduce them. These include 6-ft. garden eels who plant themselves en masse in the sea bottom like a field of slithery reeds, the leafy sea dragon, an animal so peculiar-looking E.T. would feel bad for it, and several sequences...

...required lugging enormous equipment (total weight: 8,000 lb.) about in boats and logging vast numbers of hours under the sea for a mere 40 minutes of screen time. But the brevity of the film, and the spectacular oddness of the creatures, leave you - and, perhaps more crucially, your children - wanting more. Awww moments, the tentpoles of so many nature documentaries, are mostly reserved for the sea lions, who apparently enjoy looking at themselves in the camera's reflective lens. Carrey is by turns serious and goofy, which mostly works. At one point, a crab nonchalantly carries away a jellyfish...

...combination of hard work, determination, and creative thinking, qualities that Harvard seniors have been refining through four years of long days and late nights spent producing papers and leading student organizations. Educational inequity is a deep and serious problem, and in the long term the systems that educate American children are going to need a lot of help. But, right now, these children need us, as many of us as they can get, to do what we can: to dive in and get working...

...conflict. Most die not from war wounds but from starvation or disease. A lack of infrastructure means there is little medical care in the cities and none in rural communities, so any infection can be a death sentence. The most vulnerable suffer the worst. One in five children in Congo will die before reaching the age of 5 - and will do so out of sight of the world, in places that camera crews cannot reach, deep in a vast landscape and concealed under a canopy of bucolic jungle...

...unscathed. The militias targeted women they deemed guilty of loose behavior. That meant that until recently, sisters-in-law Yusra Mahmoud and Saleema Abdalhussein hurried home before dark. Now, on a balmy February evening, they linger in the amusement park overlooking the Shatt al-Arab waterway and discuss their children. Mahmoud has five, ranging in age from 19 to 7; Abdalhussein has just one, a son born in 1981 not long before her husband, an Iraqi conscript, was killed fighting Iran. "We're always talking about the future of the children and what it holds for them," says Mahmoud...
