Mount works with a very wet brush loaded with strong colors, which she allows to spread and pool in seemingly random patterns. The lush atmospheric effects and abstract patterns Mount creates, many suggestive of land or seascapes, really need a larger format than she gives them in these small paintings. Perhaps the best watercolors are the few in which she uses a dryer brush and allows the color and texture of her paper to play a more forceful role in the designs...
