...rather than the differences between different religions, and most religious groups are quite willing to have nonmembers present for most services and social activities, religions are still defined by different, often inherently contradictory beliefs, and it would be absurd for members of a religious group like the Asian American Christian Fellowship to be led by someone who did not subscribe to Christianity. People often forget that while groupings like race, gender, nationality, and class are defined by accidents of biology and geography, religion is defined more concretely by what a person believes to be true; there is nothing wrong with...

...editors: In her comment on Christianity at Harvard (“Goodness Gracious,” Apr. 17), Ms. Caldwell identifies a phenomenon that should not be seen as a problem. Bemoaning what she sees as an insufficient level of anger on the part of Christian students reacting to the Owl Club’s “Catholic Schoolgirl Party,” she points out that “most of Harvard’s Christians turned the other cheek despite the offensive nature of such an event.” While Ms. Caldwell longingly observes that...

...Mozart’s lesser-known opera “Idomeneo.” If the prospect of an extraordinary performance of a fantastic piece does not excite you quite enough, don’t take my word for it; in his Easter Sunday greetings, Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister in the Memorial Church Peter J. Gomes took several minutes to recommend the performance to hundreds of churchgoers. If it’s worthy of a Sunday announcement, it’s certainly worthy of attendance. —Staff writer Jennifer D. After attending Harvard for nearly three years, hearing that the First-Year Social Committee was planning an “Anything but Clothes Party” on Good Friday came as a small surprise. I realize that not everyone here is Christian and that even though the majority of Harvard students would claim a Christian family heritage, their faith does not play a significant role in their lives. I would also venture that this is true of students who are from other religious backgrounds but do not necessarily keep kosher, fast on Ramadan and abstain from alcohol, or worship...
