...establishing motives and motifs, Dante goes productively crazy. Is Tuck to be stuck in a rabbit? Then there will be hares everywhere: mechanical bunnies in Tuck's apartment; a project leader named Ozzie, for Oswald the Rabbit; a cameo turn by Chuck Jones, the cartoon auteur who developed Bugs Bunny. Is the plot conflict as pure as an archetypal Western shoot-out? Sagal takes considerable liberties with the script, further fleshing out Moliere's humor. Scenes take on a cartoon-like quality in the spirit of Chuck Jones' Looney Tunes. At times, Oleson becomes an Elmer Fudd buffoon. He stumbles over tree stumps and brings out an armory of weapons to battle his imagined enemies, looking ridiculously anachronistic in a World War I helmet...
