...Memories of Underdevelopment and Lucia, The Traitors can be expected to present a more integrated, more involved picture of life to the south. Unlike the two others, however, which were directed by independent filmmakers interested as much in cinematography as in politics, this film--a product of the Grupo Cine de la Base, a revolutionary collective of Argentine filmmakers, actors, workers, and students--is unmistakably political in purpose: Educating Argentine workers about the corruption of their union leadership...
...ground floor. The role was written for me by Philip Fenty, a friend of mine from Cleveland. After I did The Organization, he was cine president of Creative. Advertising, very Madison Avenue, and decided he wanted to do films..He thought I was saleable, and I encouraged him. He finally wrote a script, with my assistance, then he went out and found a producer, Sig Shore. I never believed for an instant we were going to do this film. ABOUT the only "weaknesses of the human eye" that filmmakers have altered in the last 50 years are those they've corrected with technology-sophisticated lenses, filters, and film stock. Nobody (at all) has made any farther inroads against the realist cine-spectacle, since Vertov, on the level of challenging cinematic Illusions of illusions, mystifying reproductions of the already mystified surfaces of "reality," (Godard has only recently begun to struggle on this front.) The dye, which showed up clearly on motion picture X rays, made it possible for physicians to see with 90% accuracy exactly where...
Multiphasic testing seems to be so ideally suited to mass preventive medi cine that a bill to start such a program nationally has already been introduced in the House and Senate. And at last week's committee discussion, hardly an opponent of multiphasics could be found. One of the few opposition wit nesses was Dr. Arthur Rappoport, a member of the board of the College of American Pathologists. Though he argued that the accuracy of multiphasic testing is still unproved, Rappoport later admitted favoring such a system "if the labs were run by pathologists...
