Last week the Adventists announced at they had signed an agreement with the United Auto Workers (CIO). Adventist auto workers agreed to contribute the monetary equivalent of union dues to a sick-benefit or some other workmen's benevolent fund, and to refrain from backing either side in the event of a strike. Fortunately CIO and AFL political action programs will work arm-in-arm in '48. But if the PCA-ADA division ever becomes institutionalized in the two sections of labor, a schism reaching into '50 and '52 will undoubtedly occur. Now is the time to search with determination for common ground.
