...death in a cave, in what might have been a revenge attack for the killing of a four-month-old Palestinian girl and the wounding of at least one other infant. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said the "horrifying murders" of the two 14-year-old boys, one an American citizen, from the Tekoa settlement on the West Bank marked a new escalation in the conflict. Palestinian officials condemned the killings as well, but neither side offered a way out of the spiral of death. The widening violence also saw two Romanian migrant workers killed by a bomb while repairing Israel...

...Citizen Baines," from John Wells ("ER", "The West Wing"), is a show with so much potential CBS is running it on the least watched night of TV, Saturday, when every other network goes fishin'. It does seem a tough sell: a family drama about a former senator (James Cromwell) trying to reconnect with his three grown daughters in Seattle (let's hope none of them are wolves). Despite its denials, Ford faces growing scrutiny over the design of the Explorer and the role the SUV may have played in the highway disasters. Last month Public Citizen, a consumer watchdog group, accused Ford of knowingly building a rollover-prone Explorer and urged Firestone to expand the recall of its tires. "At its core," says Public Citizen president Joan Claybrook, "the Ford-Firestone tragedy was largely the responsibility of Ford Motor Co." This summer the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is slated to issue a long-awaited report on the cause of the rollovers...

...yoga student is often a person over the age of 40 who never had a supermodel's body and who comes to class for help in coping with chronic back problems, poor health conditions and the stresses of everyday life. Many senior-citizen centers offer yoga classes. While seniors are enthusiastic about the benefits of yoga, none of them can do the demanding poses of the crow, the side crow and the bound lotus that you pictured, nor would these poses be included in their classes. You would have done better to tell your readers about the reduced blood pressure...

Police are trained to regard any encounter with any citizen as a potentially deadly one--for the officer. Cities have plaques bearing the names of police officers killed in the line of duty--a chilling testament to why the police are trained to respond in this way. I don't in any way condone the fatal shooting of African American Timothy Thomas by a white Cincinnati, Ohio, police officer, and my prayers go out to his family. But White's list of "survival tactics" should be observed by Americans of all colors in their dealings with police officers...
