This sentence, taken from the outset of the book (p. 22), is not presented there as my own view, nor as a true view. The sentences which follow it are these: "Such is the spirit of world citizenship at this moment. The analogies to which this spirit appeals are, however, not wholly encouraging. Religion is in a different case from science, etc.," and the rest of the chapter is devoted to showing why this spirit is mistaken. It is the whole point of the book to show "the dilemma of religion"-that we cannot get to a world faith...
