...Angel Cordero had agreed with a poisonous smile, "but I promise you one thing, Eternal Prince won't ever get in front of my horse." His horse was Spend A Buck. Fidgeting inside the fifth slot of the gate, Eternal Prince cocked his head left and right at every clamor and curiosity. His start was inevitably dull, and Cordero was gone. Finishing one-two, Cordero and Laffit Pincay only reconfirmed their eminence in the sport, though almost all of the other principals were extraordinary...

...elegant and indispensable 18th century. Sure, there were plenty of quaint leisurely settings in 18th century England but to generalize in such a way about any lengthy period of history is dangerous, and in this case quite misleading. From there, the plot meanders down to hell for a breakdancing scene, then back on high, first for lustful ode from Alexis, and then for a Last-Judgement-as-beauty-contest scene to distinguish the true sinners and get the whole cast in tights. The crowd is impressed enough to forget to take center...

...freeze-plus budget works its way through Washington's legislative maw, that comment will come to sound positively low key. The proposed clampdown on spending could attract an even broader coalition of lobbyists united in opposition than did the tax-reform plan. Moreover, for all the clamor in Congress to cut the deficit, many of the remedies advanced by Reagan would squeeze voter-sensitive programs like Medicare hard enough to make most elected officials wince. Admits a White House adviser: "If you pluck out the individual elements, you find some of them very difficult to sell in political terms...
