These men take Tombstone, Arizona, as their hunting preserve. Garner (Wyatt Earp) and Ryan (Ike Clanton) kill each other's brothers for a start, then proceed to the unrelated near and dear. Since Earp rides a white horse, he's the good guy. Clanton's bad--he sets other men to do his killings and, supposedly under his influence, they take aim when an enemy's back is turned and his pistol is glued to his holster...
...Just A Dream, Jimmy Clanton...
...form of the play is an act of vengeance. The white boy, Karolis (Jaime Sanchez), has written what can only be construed as a homosexual love letter to a Negro boy named Foots (Hampton Clanton). Foots's eight Negro buddies brutally punch, kick and stomp on Karolis. Directed with nightmarish brilliance by Leo Garen, the play moves like a street-gang rumble. William Prince does well as the tongue-tied Christian, and Ralph Clanton as the haughty Comte de Guiche. Ferrer gives his role its full measure of lovelorn fervor, comic flair and wry pathos. Wearing the white plume with grand-mannered dash and strut, he also displays the kind of swordsmanship that ought to charm the popcorn set into listening to the poetry...

The same is true of the acting. Ralph Clanton is convincing, often frighteningly so, as the Earl, a man of almost demoniac evil. Martha Scott and Charlton Heston give rounded, creditable performances as Margaret and John Clitherow. Miss Scott's portrayal of the heroine is not inspiring, but she does an extremely competent job in a part that calls for straightforward acting...
